The Prophecy of Daniel 2 History written in advance
Can
we know the future, is that
possible? Prophecy is history written in advance and history confirms
prophecy. THE
INTERPRETATION The head of gold was Nebechadnezzar himself, king of Babylon. (Daniel 2:37) God clearly identifies our starting point in this prophecy so there is no question. We have history to prove this. Babylon came into power around 605 BC and it fell in 538 BC to the Medes and Persians who were represented by the chest of silver. This empire lasted around 200 years and fell to Greece in around 331 BC. We all know it's first great king, Alexander the Great. Alexander conquered the world in only ten years. Greece was represented by the thighs of bronze (brass). They were also the first to use brass in their weapons. They used these shields made with this shiny metal to blind their opponents. Greece fell around 168 BC to Rome. Rome is represented by the legs of iron. Rome was the first to use iron extensively in their weapons. Rome fell in 476 BC. Do
you notice something about these metals. Each of the metals is of a
lesser value, yet they are stronger. Does this say something about
humanity, the degeneration of mankind. Look at our world around us, do
we have many values anymore. The feet are made up of partly iron and partly clay, partly strong and partly weak. This is a time of many kings. After Rome fell history tells us that the Roman Empire was broken up into ten pieces and there have many kings since. The feet represents this time period until where we are today. The ten toes are yet future. They are not the same as the time period of the Roman Empire breaking into ten pieces. They will rule only a short time. The feet cannot come before the toes. Everything must come in chronological order. Each event must happen in sequence in order for there to be fulfillment. The seventh event of this prophecy we read: "And in those days of those kings (ten toes) the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that Kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze. The clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is true, and its interpretation is trustworthy." Jesus Christ is this stone that is cut out without human hands and He will set up His Kingdom that will last eternally. The Kingdom of God will not co-exist with the sinful kingdoms of man. DANIEL 2 ****************************DANIEL 7
NOT TO SCALE
We can easily see where we are in the plans of God. There
are 6 apocalyptic stories in the book of Daniel. God has given us these
so we might know what He plans to do. We have been given the prophecies
and if we follow each of these events we can see exactly where we are in
time. Revelation 19:10…..Hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
