Gobedo Go Be and Do all that Jesus asks Study of Revelation and Daniel

In Daniel 7, Daniel has a vision that covers the same kingdoms as the dream of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 2. Daniel 2 laid out the world empires that would exist before God sets up His Kingdom upon this earth after the 2^nd coming of Jesus. Throughout Daniel and Revelation we find that God gives us a repeating method and an enlargement of the details in order to help us understand. This is extremely beneficial in the determining of where we are in time as well as determining the correct interpretation, and whether there has been a fulfillment of the prophecy. These prophecies are history written in advance as only God could do. He is all knowing and seeing and this only confirms His knowing all these things before they have even happened. Prophecy is only understood on or about the time of fulfillment. Only the last generation would understand the things written in Daniel and Revelation for the last days. But we can see in our own history books the prophecies that have already been fulfilled and see what is next.

Daniel sees a lion, the king of beasts with the wings of an eagle. Its wings are plucked and it stands on two feet like a man with a human mind. He sees a bear and it is raised up on one side and has 3 ribs in its mouth. He then sees a leopard with 4 wings and 4 heads and dominion was given to it. And a fourth beast, a terrible monster who devoured and crushed and had 10 horns.

These 4 beasts are the four kingdoms that we see that would arise in Daniel 2 of Nebuchadnezzar's dream.

The 4^th beast concerned Daniel the most. This beast was different from the others. "After this I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong; and it had large iron teeth. It devoured and crushed, and trampled down the remainder with its feet; and it was different from all the beast that were before it, and it had ten horns. Daniel 7:7

This beast can be identified as it started as the 4^th world empire. History confirms this was Rome. It is interesting to see that this is associated in Daniel 2 as the legs of iron and again associated with iron teeth in Daniel 7. Rome was known for its use of iron in its weapons during this age. Sometimes it is referred to as the Iron Age.

"While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth uttering great boasts." Daniel 7:8 We can identify this terrible monster by it's uprooting three. Ostrogoths,Vandals and the Herculi.

This little horn power came out of Rome the fourth kingdom. It is the universal Christian Church or what we now call the Roman Catholic Church. This great spiritual power moved away from the teaching of God's Word and fell into the teaching of men and their traditions. This time was known as the Dark Ages and this is truly how it was. People were denied the Bible and were persecuted for 1,260 years until the protestors began to speak out. Many were tortured and killed. It is said that over fifty million people were killed. Satan moved mightily during this time. Civil Rome became the dominate power around 168 BC with the battle of Pydna. Rome's military was very powerful and used extensively iron weapons. By 476 AD civil Rome was overrun and her power broken into pieces. The reformers identified the 10 horns as the Vandals, Lombards, Visigoths, Suevi, Burgundians, Alamanni, Anglo Saxons, Ostrogoths, Herculi and the Franks. Its power became prominent after the appearing of the 10 horns. It was a great political power. The little horn power started small and it distinguished itself by the uprooting of 3 of the original horns in 538 38 AD. They were the 3 tribal nations of the Vandals, Heruli and the Ostrogoths; they were destroyed over the Arian Controversy. It was a dispute over the deity of Christ. It was taught that Jesus was not equal to the Father. The Roman church dominated the remaining seven tribes.

The little horn power was said to have eyes like man and a mouth uttering great boasts. This indicates that the horn was intelligent and made claims of it's superiority. The Church became politically powerful and appointed kings and decided political decisions. She controlled the world. The Church claimed to have the power of eternal life and death, a power that only God has. Eventually the Church gained power over Europe and ruled with an iron fist for almost 13 centuries.

"I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was passed in the favor of the saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived when the saints took possession of the kingdom." Daniel 7:21-22

And he will speak out against the Most high and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. But the court will sit for judgment, and his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever. Daniel 7:25-26

The Roman Church did change laws. The Ten Commandments. In 787 AD the second commandment as found in the Bible is left out so there would be no question as to images and icons. The 10^th commandment was divided into two to make up the difference. The fourth commandment was reduced so there would be no question as to the day of worship. The 7^th day of that commandment is not there.

For a time, times and half a time. The day for a year principle is used here. A time is one year, times is 2 years and ½ time is one half year or 6 months. This would equal 1,260 years which ended in 1798.

This is a fascinating book. It helps us to understand many things in the Book of Revelation. It gives us a bearing on time itself and where we are today.

We would like to say that there are many good people in the Roman Catholic Church. They are dedicated and they are God's children. As in any church there are some who do not belong to God.
