Earthquake
For nation will rise against nation , and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. Matthew 24:7 For nation will arise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pains. Mark 13:8 ....and there will be great earthquakes and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. Luke 21:11 There are three separate and distinct earthquakes mentioned in the book of Revelation. The first earthquake in chronological order is the earthquake of Revelation 8. Remember the book of Revelation as in Daniel is written in such a way of repetition and enlargement. John just as Daniel, would relate an event and later would come back and repeat it and add more detail. Although the book is not written in chronological order, each sequence within the event will be in order. This is very much like we talk even now. I can tell you of an incident and then repeat it to you and then add more detail to it to help you to have a better understanding of the situation. This is exactly what both Daniel and John did. As
with all apocalyptic prophecy we need to use certain guidelines in order
that we are consistent in our understanding. We cannot just make up the
rules as we go along. 1. All apocalyptic prophecies are identified by the presence of both, a beginning and ending point in time, and elements within each prophecy are given in chronological order. 2. A fulfillment of apocalyptic prophecy, or progression towards fulfillment, only occurs when all specifications of the prophecy or its elements are met - including chronological order. 3.
Symbols can only be interpreted with relevant scripture. The 1st
being before the 7 trumpets begin. The second earthquake is at the end
of the first 7 trumpets and at the beginning of the last 7 plagues. The
3rd earthquake is at the end of the 7 last plagues. And
I saw the seven angels who stand before God; and seven trumpets were
given to them. And the angel took the censer; and he filled it with the
fire of the altar and threw it to the earth; and there followed peals of
thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an earthquake. And the
seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound
them. Revelation 8:2-6 Look at the sequence of these events. First
we see 7 angels and they are given 7 trumpets. We then see the angel at
the altar, and then there are certain events that happen on the earth,
then the 7 angels prepare to sound their trumpets. In
the days of the sanctuary service on earth in the wilderness the high
priest on the day of atonement would throw down the censer after he had
officiated which indicated he was finished. This angel at the altar in
Revelation 8 is Jesus, our high priest, who is officiating on our
behalf. The altar of incense is for cooperate sins, not for individual
sin. Only the priest' sins were placed on this altar in the wilderness
sanctuary. The sins of the individual were placed on the altar of burnt
offering. To have a better understanding of this, one should study the
wilderness sanctuary. This model in the earthly sanctuary was to
instruct us as to what was going on in the heavenly sanctuary. Notice
much incense is placed on the altar at this time to give a sweet
fragrance before God along with the prayers of the saints. By the way
this special request of the saints is answered later in the story. They
are making a special petition of God at this time. As Jesus throws down
the censer indicating that He is finished with this service, we see
these events happen on the earth, peals of thunder, sounds and flashes
of lightning, and an earthquake. All these things notify the people of
God that cooperate intercession has come to an end. All this takes place
just before the 7 trumpets of Revelation sound. The living are about to
be judged. There is already a group of saints that God has prepared that
are anticipating the things coming upon the earth. This is not an
isolated earthquake, the whole earth is involved. God is going to shake
the whole world and He is going to get the people's attention and then
His wrath will begin with the first of the 7 trumpets beginning to
sound. And
then another. And
the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His
covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and
sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
Revelation 11:19 This earthquake takes place at the end of the seven
trumpets as the door to mercy is closed. Just as the curtain was torn in
the earthly temple, He will allow everyone to see His ark of the
covenant. And
then another. And the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air; and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, "It is done. And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. Revelation 16:17-18 Verse
20-21 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And
huge hailstones about a hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon
men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because
its plague was extremely severe. This earthquake happens during the
7th plague, the 2nd coming of Christ. This
earthquake will shake the earth beyond anything it has ever experienced.
It will literally explode from within. God is calling forth all those He
is taking with Him to heaven. He will not miss a one. There is no place
within this earth that He will not find His children. Praise God! Notice
too that men blasphemed God still. Does that tell us something about
mankind, even to the very end man is wicked. And I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and then sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; Revelation 6:12 Verse 14 And the sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. This is another description of the earthquake that takes place at the second coming of Christ at the 7 last plagues. The earthquakes of Revelation 16 and 6 are the same. Verses
15-17 And the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders
and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man, hid themselves
in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the
mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the
presence of Him who sits on the throne, and form the wrath of the Lamb:
for the great day of their wrath has come; and who is able to
stand?" God
has left nothing to chance nor to our imaginations. Everything He is
going to do has been carefully laid out for us if we study. We will soon
see all of these things unfold. The Great Tribulation will begin with a
global earthquake before the seven trumpets begin to sound. Are you
prepared, are you among the saints that even now, are praying. Come
quickly Lord Jesus! LOS ANGELES, (Reuters) - A strong earthquake rocked southern California Saturday, the third major quake in the world in three months, but only minor injuries were reported unlike the other two quakes in Taiwan and Turkey which killed thousands of people. The epicenter of the California earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.0 on the open-ended Richter scale, was in a sparsely populated area. Here
